Driving Solana ecosystem growth across Africa through Superteam Nigeria
Ex Head of Marketing for Africa at top crypto exchanges, including FTX and Bitget.
Experienced driving marketing, comms and growth for global brands like Pepsi, Meta, Google, Indomie, AB InBev, Rexona, Jansport, HP/Intel, Kellogg's, etc.
Widely regarded as a leading African voice at the intersection of blockchain and marketing.
Harrison Obiefule began his career working on global brands like Pepsi, Meta (Facebook), Google, Indomie, AB InBev, Rexona, Jansport, HP/Intel, and Kellogg's, developing comprehensive marketing and communications strategies for some of the world’s most recognised companies before transitioning to the blockchain technology industry in 2021.
Since then, he has led continent-wide growth, marketing, and communications efforts for international cryptocurrency companies, including FTX Africa (Where he helped grow monthly trading volume in Nigeria from $5 million to $500 million within a year. In South Africa, he scaled monthly volume from $50 million to over $2 billion, while also launching the Ghana market and growing it from virtually zero to more than $100 million at its peak, alongside delivering similar growth across multiple African markets) and Bitget Africa, both of which were among the top 5 cryptocurrency exchanges by global trading volume during his tenure.
Currently, Harrison leads ecosystem growth for Solana (the world’s third-largest crypto ecosystem) in Africa as the Nigeria Lead for Superteam, a global network of founders, developers, designers, and creatives building on Solana across more than 20 countries. Through community building, developer education, ecosystem partnerships, and startup support, Harrison has played a key role in accelerating Solana’s adoption across Africa’s largest crypto market and positioning the continent as an increasingly important contributor to the global Solana ecosystem.
Under his leadership, Solana has strengthened its position as one of Africa’s fastest-growing blockchain ecosystems. According to Electric Capital’s 2024 Developer Report, Solana ranked as the second-largest blockchain ecosystem in Africa by developer activity. Hashed Emergent’s Nigeria Web3 Landscape Reports (2024 and 2025) identified Solana as the top chain of choice by Nigerian developers, beating older chains like Ethereum, and named it Nigeria’s most active blockchain ecosystem for two consecutive years. Syndica’s 2025 Developer Report further showed that Nigeria accounted for 66% of all Solana developers in Africa and ranked sixth globally for Solana developer participation.
As a GTM strategist, Harrison has supported multi-billion-dollar Solana ecosystem projects expanding across Africa, and enabled leading African products to integrate with Solana, including Solflare, Jupiter, Redot, Backpack, Meteora, Raenest, Roqqu, Asset Base (Hisa & Risevest), Get Equity, and Bayse Markets.
In 2025, Harrison orchestrated a landmark partnership between SuperteamNG and Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Youth Development to launch the Nigerian Youth Academy’s (NiYA) first blockchain course. That year SuperteamNG also reached a community GDP of $1M and collaborated with two of the country’s first SEC-licensed cryptocurrency exchanges, Quidax and Busha.
Harrison is a sought-after speaker at high-level blockchain forums. He was invited to present at the Digital Assets Innovation Industry Regulation and Compliance Executive Program by the University of Cambridge, and was among a small group of industry thought leaders invited to address the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on the Economic, Regulatory, and Security Implications of Cryptocurrency Adoption in Nigeria.
Harrison holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) with a specialisation in Marketing and Media Management from Rome Business School and is currently pursuing a PhD in Marketing.
